Questioning America's alliance with Israel and whether America's continued financial and diplomatic assistance is beneficial to either nation, Professors Mearsheimer and Walt will argue that America's support for Israel has dominated its Middle East policy, often to the detriment of its own national and strategic interests - in Iraq, Iran, Lebanon and in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

This discussion continues the argument put forward in their controversial article 'The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy', published in 2006.
