The Horn of Africa is one of the most conflict-afflicted regions of the world. Huge international efforts have been directed towards solving conflicts in Somalia and Sudan and between Ethiopia and Eritrea. Yet despite the signing of major peace agreements, lasting settlements remain elusive. At this event which will launch a new report, Lost Opportunities in the Horn of Africa: How Conflicts Connect and Peace Agreements Unravel, the speaker will outline the key findings from this major collaborative study of the region and suggest some pointers for policy-makers on ways to reduce conflict.

Chatham House has undertaken this project in association with the Centre for African Studies, the Rift Valley Institute and the Royal African Society.
