Oil and Regional Developments in the Gulf

Energy producers and consumers share an interest in understanding how international relations and regional developments in the Arabian Gulf will affect supply and demand in the coming years. The regional power balance has taken on a new shape since the 1990-91 Gulf War, with the United States playing a crucial role and Britain and France also involved in defence arrangements for the Gulf Cooperation Council states and patrolling the Gulf sea lanes. This book contains the proceedings of a seminar held in Abu Dhabi in November 1997 in which the place of the Gulf in the international energy market was explored with particular reference to current and future possibilities for US policy in the region.
