Conference Overview

This City Series event will look at the increasingly large role which the Middle East is playing in the international markets. Bringing together leading policymakers, regulators and financiers from the region, the conference will look at many issues including the competitive advantage which the Middle East proffers; the main obstacles standing in the way of a new financial centre and the question of the ways in which the markets will be regulated.

In addition, this year's event will look at the rise of Islamic finance. Questions which will be addressed including the development of the market for Sharia-compliant financial transactions; the challenges which are posed in making existing financial products compliant with Islamic law and the status of the UK government's efforts to issue Sharia-compliant bonds.
