The creation of the state of Israel sixty years ago was an equally momentous event for Palestinians, their 'catastrophe'. While the defeat then of Arab and Palestinian forces is often described as a 'disaster', the 1967 Six Day war between Israel, Egypt, Syria and Jordan can be seen as setting the context for current conflict.
