The latest round of Cyprus peace negotiations was launched in September 2008 to resolve the 40-year-old Cypriot issue. Mehmet Ali Talat and Demetris Christofias, representing the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot sides respectively, and with the assistance of the United Nations, are forging ahead with a challenging process of reconciliation. Mr Talat will offer the Turkish Cypriot perspective on the state and pace of the negotiations and on prospects for Turkey's accession to the European Union.

The question and answer session of this meeting will be held under the Chatham House Rule.
