The Head of the Royal Navy will explain the Navy's contribution to current operations in Afghanistan and elsewhere. Looking beyond Afghanistan, he will consider how the use of maritime forces offers the Government wide political choice in deciding how best to protect and promote the UK's interests in an uncertain world, and considers their role in conflict prevention.

The speech will be held on the record and the question and answer session will be held off the record.
