Media Diary

Find out what's happening at Chatham House

Journalists can sign up for the Chatham House media diary email bulletin. The bulletin is sent out every second Monday with regular updates in between. It contains details of our speakers and publications with information on how journalists can register for, and attend, our events. To sign up for the diary please email pressoffice@chathamhouse.org.uk with your contact and affiliation details.

The majority of major UK broadcasters and print media, and a number of international media, including freelance journalists and foreign correspondents are members of Chatham House. To join Chatham House, please contact our membership department.


Attending events at Chatham House

Events listed in the Chatham House media diary are open to journalists, space permitting, and almost all will be on the record. Journalists who are not members of Chatham House are also allowed to attend most events listed in the diary but must register for each event and bring press identification. This must be in the form of an official Press Card photographic ID card or an international equivalent. Most events are NOT held under the Chatham House Rule. Journalists will be notified in advance of those that are.
What does the Chatham House Rule mean for journalists?


Filming and photography

Film crews will be allowed to film most events, space and agreement with the speaker(s) permitting. Finding space for satellite trucks on St James's Square is not normally a problem but broadcasters are responsible for making their own arrangements. Photography is permitted at most events but may be limited to the first five minutes of the speech and the first five minutes of the question and answer session, where this format is used. Registration is essential.


Interviews and facilities

The press office also facilitates interviews for Chatham House experts and guest speakers. Our premises have a number of rooms and locations suitable for most types of interview - and we're located in St James's Square, one of London's finest locations. Chatham House in some circumstances may be used by broadcasters as a location venue for drama or other purposes. Recently it has been used by the BBC's Panorama and Hardtalk, CBS's 60 Minutes, the BBC dramas Field of Dreams and Churchill at War and Channel 4's Bremner, Bird and Fortune.
