Where is the G8 invitation for the Gulf? There was a moment when Russia had to fight for a place at the table with leading industrial nations, especially in the crisis-ridden 1990s. How times change. Rising oil prices helped the world's second largest oil producer recapture power and influence in both business and political circles - including the power to change the G7 into G8. Then came a top table welcome for China and others. But what about the world's tenth biggest economy, home to the largest sovereign wealth funds and in control of more than a third of global oil and gas?
