About Americas Research

Work on the Americas at Chatham House concentrates on the relationship between the US and the rest of the world. Research projects on a wide range of regional and thematic issues include consideration of the US role, while there are a number of current projects that consider the US specifically. These include a Project on Nuclear Issues, which seeks to enable a broad analysis of this critical aspect of the US-UK relationship; a project on Transatlantic Relations in a Changing Mediterranean Context; and a recent project assessing the challenges facing NATO.

Chatham House organizes regular United States Discussion Group meetings which consider a range of issues in the US and affecting the transatlantic relationship. We also host a number of larger events with key political figures and have a series of events during 2008 considering the likely foreign policy implications of a new US President.
