Asian Demographics |
The Asia Programme is currently seeking funding for a major comparative research project examining demographics in Asia. Some countries, like India, see themselves benefiting from a "demographic dividend" as they take advantage of a rising workforce. Here, though, there are concerns of a skills mismatch. Countries like Japan, however, already face rapidly aging populations. China's one-child policy will mean that it will "age" faster than any other country. The research will seek to explore what lessons can be learnt from these different demographic patterns.
If you would like to find out more about the Asian Demographics Project, or would be interested in supporting or becoming involved in the project, please contact Gareth Price.
