The speaker will examine the power base that gave President Musharraf victory in the 2002 election and the subsequent shift in public opinion against the regime. He will analyse the electoral outcome and probable scenarios for the formation of a new administration. The discussion will then focus on the capacity of any future government to provide stability and clear direction for the future and consider the implications of these developments for the 'war on terror'.
