Mr Tung will analyse the process of reform and development which China has undergone in the past 30 years and the direction in which it is heading. He will look specifically at China's relationships with the international community and how these are likely to progress in the future.

Mr Tung was the first elected Chief Representative of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. He took up the post after the United Kingdom's handover of Hong Kong to China, and was elected to a second five-year term in 2002.
