During the past two decades there have been periods of cooling off and complacency. But, fortunately, we can safely say that we are making progress in many areas of sustainable development.

Gro Harlam Brundtland chaired the UN commission on sustainable development. A former Prime Minister of Norway, she also lead the World Health Organization and is now a UN Special Envoy on Climate Change.
