Before the Iraq war, the Bush administration estimated its cost to the US at $50 billion, but the speaker will argue that the total costs will come in at more than sixty times that figure. He will briefly examine how the true costs have been hidden and who has suffered as a result, in the US, in Iraq and in the world more generally. He will conclude with a discussion of the role of the war and the economy in the pre-election debate in the US.
